All of you share so many delicious dishes every week here for our party, I always look forward to party time to see what you are bringing  to share with us. We have been busy visiting with family for the last week, its that time of the summer when everyone is trying to get in one last visit to the country before school starts, which looks like is just around the corner for some of you.  Let's get this party started, I am hungry!

Background Story For Full Plate Thursday
 When we were young and just starting out in life sometimes we did not have a lot of money. Most of our friends were having to stretch the dollars at the end of the month just like us. My girlfriends and I decided that we would pool our food for some of the evening meals right before payday... the last week of the month. I have some of the fondest memories from those days. We would all bring our food together and we had some great food and great fellowship. We would get the food on the table and everything ready, someone would bless the food and then the hostess would say "come fill your plate".

    Such a tempting array of goodies this week! It's hard to believe that school time is almost here, though. I brought a fresh summer salad to share -- it's a tomato avocado salad that almost makes its own dressing -- great for easy summer meals.

    I am glad you are having a lovely summer, Miz Helen. Our British school children are just finishing school for the summer holidays around now - most of them finished yesterday. It's interesting to think of others going back soon, although when I was a kid in Canada we had summer holidays from mid-June until Labour Day - those were the days :-) Thank you for hosting the party.
