Fall Garden
Hi come in, we are just going out to the Garden Gate to do a little fall planting. We had unusual high temperature in August and so far in September with very little moisture. We did finally did get some rain and were able to work our ground.
We planted several vines which I had started indoors from seed. In a few weeks we will have a great fall harvest from our fall heirloom tomatoes. It is still in the high 90 degrees here so we will have production until our first frost which will come sometimes after Thanksgiving. We also planted some Leeks, Dill, Garlic, and Parsley in early August, so our Fall Garden is complete, all we need now is some rain and time.
We have had a wonderful production from our Organic Garden and the taste is amazing. We have canned enough vegetables this summer to last us through the winter months until our spring production begins.
I am so happy that you stopped by to visit with us today. Sometimes I just need to sit down and rest for a bit and it is always nice to have a friend to share a cup of tea and conversation. I look forward to hearing about your fall garden.
Peace and Joy

- The first thing we did is clear all the old non producing plants from the summer garden
- Next we till the ground and add our homemade compost (a link at the bottom of this post for Compost July 26, 2010)
- Make our rows and we are ready to plant
- Now we are ready to plant
- We planted this section in Turnip Greens which we hope will be on our Christmas Dinner Table
- This section we planted with Rainbow Swiss Chard

Wow, you have a lovely place for gardening! I love to garden too! Come visit my gardening blog if you have time. Mine is garden in containers! Planning for some gardening myself this evening, but it is raining now, perhaps I'll bake instead! Hope all your plants sprout soon! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteKitchen Flavours,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to The Cottage. I am so happy that you will be following along. I look forward to seeing you here.
I soooo want to plant a garden!!!! It is like the soil is crying out to me. I can just see Little Daddy out there and you with the seed packets. This makes be smile! I can smell the aroma of Christmas dinner right now.
ReplyDeleteGreat garden! I'm so jealous! We've had a great summer for rain, I just didn't plant anything this year! We bought 2 tomato plants and a pepper plant but that's been it. I'll have to live through yours!
ReplyDeleteI used to live where we had a lot of land and we grew so many wonderful fruits and vegetables. This brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteNow, we have little space and are lucky to get tomatoes going.
I will have to visit here to keep the memories alive. Thanks.
I love your pretty tomatoes! I had a garden for 3 months, then I moved out :-( I hope I'll have my own house one day so I can grow pretty vegetables!
