Pear Pie Pocket
Hi, come on in, I am back here in the kitchen I have been busy making this Pear Pie Pocket. Sit right down here and I will get you a cup of hot tea and a slice of this pie...it sure smells good. We received a lovely gift of fresh pears for Christmas and they were very ripe, so I decided to make a pie pocket.
Pear Pie Pocket
Pear Pie Pocket
Miz Helen's Kitchen
6 large pears peeled and sliced
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
dash salt
1/2 tablespoon butter
1 bottom pie crust
1 tablespoon cream or milk
Option: 1/2 cup sugar
- Peel and slice the pears.
- Mix the cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, salt and optional: sugar together.
- In a mixing bowl mix the pears and seasons together and let set for 10 minutes to allow the juice of the pears to come out.
- Roll out the pie dough.
- Pour the seasoned pears in the center of the dough . Cut up the butter and dot it over the pears.
- Fold the dough over the pears forming a pocket. Make sure you have no holes in the dough on the bottom so you won't loose your liquid.
- Brush the top with the cream or milk
- Place on a cookie sheet and bake 375 degrees 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm with fresh whipped cream.
Season The Pears and Pour Them In The Center Of The Dough
Close The Pocket And Brush The Top With Cream
Bake Until Golden Brown
I did not use the sugar in my pie because the pears were so sweet, they just did not need the help of the sugar. This is a very simple and easy pie, but very delicious as a dessert for any meal.
I sure am glad you were able to stop by and have pie with me today, sure hope you enjoyed it.I hope that you will come back and bring a dish to Full Plate Thursday. I will looking forward to seeing you then. You can pick up your invitation to Full Plate Thursday in the Red Plate on my side bar and you can take that Red Plate home with you if you like. You don't want to miss the opening day of Full Plate Thursday this Thursday January 6, 2011
