Day Trip: Victorian Lady Tea Room
About 14 years ago my friend Vicki and I were so excited as we heard about a new Tea Room that would be opening in near by Mabank,Texas. Mabank is located about a 1 hour drive southeast of Dallas and about a 12 mile drive from our little community. Little did we know about the wonderful times that awaited us at the new Victorian Lady Tea Room.
Janice, the Owner and Manager says, when she opened the Tea Room her goal was to have the Tea Room be a part of her ministry for the community, and she has certainly met that goal and is still doing so today. She has provided a serene setting with a warm and welcoming atmosphere feeding both the body and the soul. Often times through the years she has offered us a scripture to help get through the day or a special prayer time to give us strength for the journey ahead.
Tia the Chef, has been with the Tea Room from the beginning. Tia's food is the best in this part of the county. She has a special place in my heart. When I was having Chemo Treatments for Breast Cancer, her soup was often times the only thing that I could eat. So many times my friend Kelly would pick it up and bring it out to me. I will be forever grateful for Tia's soup and Miz Kelly.
Donna who has also been with the Tea Room since the beginning always greets you with a smile and a wonderful glass of iced tea in the summer and hot tea in the winter. She could probably take my order without even asking. If you are at a table for 10 or 2 she always makes you feel really special, like you matter.
It is such fun to spend time in the Tea Room in addition to the wonderful staff and food there are wonderful shopping opportunities all over the Tea Room, fun, fun, fun and don't we all love those shopping opportunities?
Now its time to sit down and enjoy our lunch. One of my favorites at the Tea Room is the Mexican Vegetable Soup and the Chicken Salad with a nice glass of iced tea.

ReplyDeleteHi Miz Helen. The tea room looks absolutely lovely. I love a good tea room. They seem to be all the rage over here lately. Serving lovely pots of hot steamy tea in beautiful tea cups and served with tiered plates full of freshly made sandwiches and scrumptious cakes and sweet treats. Which reminds me. I've overdue for a visit to one! LOL
