Several days after we planted the onions we got about 3 inches of rain, perfect for the onion patch. I am very excited that the garden season has started here. Hi Miz Helen-I've gotta say these garden pics made my day. I'm hangin' in there in Ohio just dreaming about getting back out into the garden. Seeing all those rows of green give me hope. :)
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I am ready to eat those green onions already! Great post! I was planting my tomato yesterday. Last summer was so hot, I had just beautiful plans but no tomatoes. This year I started two months earlier, by the time hit hits the region, I hope to have some tomatoes...:)

ReplyDeleteI seen your pic and I said she looks like she knows how to cook. It is those Greys of wisdom that gave it away. That is what I called it at 26 when I got my first one. (almost 10 years ago) lol. I am so Jealous of your garden. We have a bit before we can be outside planting but I think we need to get started on our greenhouse which needs new plastic over it so we can get some seedlings started before spring which is 8 weeks away. I think that was what my MIL said it was.

We're no where near ready to plant here in Southern Indiana, but I sure do hope I can start soon. Nothing like a just picked, sun warmed tomato from the garden.
ReplyDeleteI started my garden last week too. So many people notice the difference in flavor of homegrown tomatoes vs. store bought, but I think it is true of everything we grow, including the onions. Thanks for sharing this with the Hearth and Soul Hop.
ReplyDeleteI am sooooo jealous! I can't hardly wait until gardening season. I will start up my greenhouse at the end of the month and get my onions in the ground around mid March! Your helper is adorable!

You're reminding me of the good ol' days Miz Helen. Some of my fondness memories are of my childhood. My family had 2 greenhouses. One that was for flowers and one that was a hydrophonic greenhouse. Someday I need to dig out some pictures to share. We had all this land, so my dad liked to piddle and experiment to see what would grow. I think we tried about every vegetable and fruit that would grow in the South.
ReplyDeleteToday, we live in a subdivision. No sun for a garden, and our HOA doesn't allow gardens unless they are small container gardens. I envy you that you have one. A lot of work, I know, but I'm sure you know the end results are worth your efforts. I hope you have a great crop this year for any vegetables you grow.
