Full Plate Thursday Background Story
When
we were young and just
starting out in life sometimes we did not have a
lot of money. Most of our friends were
having to stretch the dollars
at the end of the month just like us. My
girlfriends and I decided that we
would pool our food for some of the
evening meals right before payday...
the last week of the month. I have some
of the fondest memories from those
days. We would all bring our food
together and we had some great food and
great fellowship. We would get the
food on the table and everything ready,
someone would bless the food and
then the hostess would say "come fill your
plate".

ReplyDeleteHi Miz Helen. I always love to stop by and see the recipe list grow. I love that so many people are cooking at home. I shared a sweet and sour cooked red cabbage recipe. I hope your week is sunny! (Or maybe it's always sunny in Texas!)
ReplyDeleteI am three weeks into a month of eating the Wahls Diet which is all about eating the right nutrients for brain health. I'm sharing a recipe which may sound odd: Sardine Avocado and Citrus Salad. Have you ever actually tried a sardine? They are actually pretty tasty, reasonably priced and have lots of good nutrients like omega-3s, calcium and protein without the mercury that larger predator fish like tuna have. I ate them once a week while I was pregnant and I still do as a breast feeding mom.

I also linked up a post on several of the strategies I've developed to make sure I get all my nutritious food everyday:
