I am so excited to spend the first day of 2015 with all of you! Thursday is a fun day of the week, always looking forward to the wonderful food and fellowship that we all share together. You have helped to make 2014 a wonderful year here at The Cottage and I certainly look forward to having many good times and good food with you in 2015. To pass along a little good luck for the new year I am sharing a little Black Eyed Pea Mash on Crispy Polenta appetizer with all of you this evening. I can't wait to see what you are sharing for the first party of the year so lets get this party started!

When
we were young and just
starting out in life sometimes we did not have a
lot of money. Most of our friends were
having to stretch the dollars
at the end of the month just like us. My
girlfriends and I decided that we
would pool our food for some of the
evening meals right before payday...
the last week of the month. I have some
of the fondest memories from those
days. We would all bring our food
together and we had some great food and
great fellowship. We would get the
food on the table and everything ready,
someone would bless the food and
then the hostess would say "come fill your
plate".

Happy New Year Miz Helen! I'm starting off the year with a healthy diet plan. For starters, my orange-ginger carrot soup, perfect for ramping up the immune system. All the selections look lovely, can't wait to try your black bean mash on polenta appetizers. I may make them as a main dish!
