Pistachio Jar Dessert
My husband is a Pistachio lover, nuts, pies, cakes, muffins, puddings, anything Pistachio. Today I am surprising him with this Pistachio Jar Dessert, I know he will love it! This is a very easy dessert to make and of course I had to taste it, oh my it is delicious, real creamy with a nutty crunch and the flavor of a cracker give it a great contrast, topping it off with a big twirl of whipped cream and a garnish of nuts.
3 cup cold whole milk
1 1/3 cups graham cracker crumbs
4 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup Pistachio Nuts, chopped
2 cups whipped cream
8 ounce canning jars for serving
Directions
In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, mix the cream cheese, milk and extract.
Add the yogurt and mix well.
Add the pudding mix and mix on slow speed until completely blended.
In a small bowl mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, cinnamon, salt and 1/3 of the Pistachio Nuts, mix well.
I am using an 8 ounce canning jar to serve the dessert.
Place 1/3 cup of the crumb mixture on the bottom of each jar.
Layer the pudding mix to the rim of the jar.
Sprinkle the pudding mix with some of the crumb mixture
Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of nuts.
Refrigerate until serving. Keeps refrigerated for 2 to 3 days.
Enjoy!

Yum! It looks like Leonard and Max are happy on this St. Patrick's Day!! I made a pistachio layered dessert for dessert for tonight's dinner.
ReplyDeleteMiz Helen - these look absolutely DELICIOUS !!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous as we don't have here instant Pistachio pudding, but I might just make it with vanilla pudding.
Sure looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteNot sure what's happening with my posts ~ :( Are they showing up anywhere for you?

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dessert, Miz Helen! I have a real weakness for pistachio and have been known to bring back pistachio pudding mixes with me from the US when I travel (we can't get it here in the UK). Your recipe sounds so creamy and luscious - no wonder Leonard and Max loved it so much! Thank you for sharing it with us at the Hearth and Soul hop - pinned and will tweet. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis looks really good. I love pistachio. I know a while back I made a cake with pistachio pudding mix. My sister in law called in Watergate cake. I really liked it, so this will just hit the right taste, I know. Thanks, you are some cook.
ReplyDeleteNice surprise! I like that you've used yogurt in these jars.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Max loved his treat!

Hey Miz Helen,
ReplyDeleteHow many servings are in the recipe as it's given here in your column? Serves 2-20 has me scratching my head. This dessert is shrieking GARDEN CLUB to me and I do love to serve the ladies something none of us have had before and this looks like a perfect candidate for our organizational meeting which hopefully have in May of this year. RobbieAnn
Hi Yazookid,
DeleteThe recipe here on the post will serve 4 to 6 of the 8 ounce canning jars. It would be a delightful dessert for your Garden Club. Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the dessert!
