Fall Decor Inside and Out
When my husband and I decided to downsize about 9 years ago to a tiny cottage, it was long before "Tiny Houses" were as popular as they are today. I love my tiny cottage and it has been so much fun to decorate. The acreage is much larger than the cottage with vegetable and herb gardens, outdoor kitchen and more. We repainted the outside of the house earlier this spring and then we redid all the front flower beds. The beds have had a chance to get started so I am happy to share the progress with you today, plus it is all ready for fall.

All the old scrubs were transplanted and they are growing beautifully in my friends yard. We put a lot of new dirt in the bed along with our special Homemade Compost that we make here at the cottage.
We have dwarf Boxwoods spaced in the beds across the front.
In the back of the Boxwoods, I have my Zinna's. Some of my Zinna Seed came from our old house and are very special to me. We also planted Mums in alternating clumps between the Boxwoods. Then we covered the beds with Preen Mulsh to help with weed control. We will be planting blubs for the spring, along with Pansies and Flowering Kale for the winter.
We have had beautiful butterflys and humming birds, they love the Zinna's.

You look all ready for fall. We retired 4 years ago, and just yesterday I was thinking about a tiny house!!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to get a peek inside your cozy cottage, Miz Helen, and to see the beautiful transformation on the outside. I love the color you chose for your exterior and all the zinnias add such a cheery touch. Thanks for sharing with us.
