Miz Helen's Slow Cooker Brisket
This is one of my favorite Slow Cooker Brisket recipes. The flavors in this recipe are delicious and allows you to use the brisket in several different ways. The brisket is perfect for street tacos, or just sliced and served with sides. For this post we are serving brisket on a bun with Cole slaw and topped with the onions from the brisket pot. Serving on the side Marinated Veggie Salad and Grilled Corn with Dill Butter, what a delicious meal!

Ingredients
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
3 to 4 pound trimmed out brisket
2 large onions, sliced thick
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
1 cup chili sauce
2 cups coke cola
Directions
Brush your grill or skillet with the vegetable oil.
After the grill or skillet is very hot, sear the brisket on all sides really well.
Place the brisket into the slow cooker.
In a small bowl mix the chili powder, cumin garlic powder, cayenne pepper, garlic salt, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Season the brisket with the seasoning mix making sure that you cover it well on all sides.
On the hot grill, grill the onion slices, making sure they start to caramelize.
Remove the onions from the grill and add to the top of the seasoned brisket.
Mix the chili sauce and cola together and pour around the edge of the brisket.
Cover the brisket and cook for 5 hours on high or 8 hours on low.
Remove the brisket to a cutting board and let set for 15 to 20 minutes before slicing.
When slicing the brisket, make sure you slice against the grain so you get a better slice.
Serve the onions as garnish and the gravy on the side.
Enjoy!
