Baked Candied Sweet Potatoes
We love Sweet Potatoes and our Baked Candied Sweet Potatoes are simply delicious, making this recipe a favorite. These fresh sweet potatoes are baked in a maple syrup and gives this a very special flavor. This is a side dish that will go to a covered dish event or be the star of a family dinner. This is a recipe that can be made ahead of time and heated up right before serving.

Baked Candied Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients
7 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced thick
1/2 cup real maple syrup
1/2 white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup water
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
pinch salt
2-1/2 tablespoons butter
Directions
In a small sauce pan, combine syrup water, brown and white sugar, and spices, bring to a boil and stir until the sugar is melted. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Place the peeled and sliced potatoes into a very large mixing bowl.
Pour the cooked syrup over the potatoes and toss to cover well.
Place the syruped potatoes into a buttered 9X13 baking dish, pouring all of the syrup from the bowl over the potatoes.
Dot the top of the potatoes with the butter.
Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour or until tender. Baste the potatoes 3 or 4 times during the cooking time.
Remove from the oven and set aside until time to serve.
