Spicy Brat Dogs
This recipe for Spicy Brat Dogs has everything you need for a great flavor. These Brats are girlled then put into a bath of heavenly spices and cooked slow to perfection. Then we take them out and put them on a wonderful bed of cole slaw sitting on a bun. For a picnic, cook out, or a special family dinner this is a great recipe to try. We just love these Spicy Brat Dogs here at the cottage, they are a real winner!

Now We Put The Lid On and Just Let It Simmer

Spicy Brat Dogs

Ingredients
4 to 6 servings
Oil Spray For The Grill
4 to 6 Brats
3 white onions, sliced thick
For The Sauce
1-1/2 cups Chili Sauce
1/2 cup malt vinegar
4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups Dr. Pepper or a dark cola
Sub Rolls For Serving
Directions
Spray a hot grill with an oil spray.
Grill the Brats, turning to get the grill marks on both sides.
For The Sauce
In a large dutch oven, add the chili sauce,vinegar, brown sugar, hot sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, cayenne, and Dr. Pepper, mix well.
Add the grilled brats into the liquid mix. and cook on medium low heat while you grill the onions.
Grill the onions until they are just starting to get tender.
Add the grilled onions to the brat mixture.
Place the lid on the mixture and cook on low heat for 30 to 45 minutes.
Keep on simmer until ready to serve.
Toast the buns if you like and add your favorite cole slaw to the bottom of the bun then place the brat and some sauce on top.
