Quick Cinnamon Rolls
My husband and daughter were both begging for cinnamon rolls this weekend. Since these only take about an hour I didn't mind making a special Sunday breakfast! You could also use cream cheese icing if you want to make them even better!
(makes 9 large cinnamon rolls)
Dough
- 1 package instant yeast
- 2 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
Filling
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar (can thicken up with 2 tablespoons more)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 Tablespoons milk
Directions
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast together in a large bowl. In a small microwaveable bowl place your milk, water, and butter and microwave until butter is melted (make sure not to get it too hot or it could affect your yeast). Stir the butter mixture into the flour mixture. Add in your egg and knead with a mixer or by hand for about 4 minutes (until the dough isn't sticky anymore). Place dough in a lightly greased bowl and rest for 5 minutes (you and the dough haha).
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F, then turn off after 10 minutes. You will use this to help your dough rise a little faster.
Roll out your rested dough to a 15x9 inch rectangle (or as close as you can get). Spread the softened butter on top evenly. Mix your cinnamon and brown sugar together, then sprinkle evenly over the butter. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 9 even pieces.
Place into a lightly greased pan square or 9 inch pan. lightly cover with aluminum foil and place into warm oven. Make sure oven is off. Let them rise for 20 minutes.
Take off your foil and bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
To make your icing mix vanilla, powdered sugar, and milk together until smooth. Add powdered sugar until desired thickness.
Serve warm and enjoy!

Miz Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI sure wish I could have been at your house to enjoy your delicious Cinnamon Rolls! They look delicious!
Those look delicious! Homemade cinnamon buns are the ultimate comfort food for me that smell of yeast, sugar, and cinnamon... I just LOVE it! Pinned.
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing, love cinnamon rolls :)
ReplyDeleteMy family loves cinnamon rolls, but we usually do the Pillsbury ones because of the amount of time it takes. So I look forward to trying this quicker version!
ReplyDeleteI would be begging for them too if someone would make them for me! Actually it is also fun to make them yourself. Thanks for sharing a family favorite recipe this week. #HomeMattersParty
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good part of a good brunch! Thanks for bringing this to Fiesta Friday!
ReplyDeleteHelp!!! Do I take the rolls out of the oven while waiting for the temp to get to 375 and then put them in or leave them in while heating?
ReplyDeleteYes take them out while the oven is pre-heating to 375. Enjoy your rolls and thanks so much for stopping by!
