Slow Cooker Smothered Steak at Miz Helen's Country Cottage
Slow Cooker Smothered Steak recipe has been in my recipe box for a very long time. The recipe was originally baked in the oven and I just used my handy conversion chart (included in this post) and put it in the Slow Cooker. Some days are just busy and the Slow Cooker is a real help. The recipe will just melt in your mouth and you can cut the meat with a fork. The gravy and the onions top off the dish to make it a favorite. I am serving it today over rice.

How To Make Slow Cooker Smothered Steak

With a flour mix of flour, salt, and pepper, I like to just dust the tenderized steaks with the flour and seasons. Then cover the meat with large sliced onions.

I mix the liquids together very well and slowly cover the entire top of the onions and steak with the liquids mix.

Finally we sprinkle the dry mix on top of the liquid mix. Place the lid on the Slow Cooker and set your timer, depending on if you are cooking on high or low.

In a few short hours you will have smothered steak that will melt in your mouth and be fork tender. It will serve great with rice or mashed potatoes.

Slow Cooker Smothered Steak
Miz Helen's Kitchen
Serves 4 to 6
Ingredients
4 to 6 small tenderized round or cube steaks
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons pepper
2 large onions, sliced thick
1 (10-1/2 ounce) can cream of celery soup
1 (10-1/2 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
3/4 cup water
1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
Fresh parsley for garnish
Directions
On a plate, mix together the flour, salt and pepper.
One at a time lightly dust the steaks with the flour mixture, making sure to dust well.
Place the flour dusted steaks in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Place the thick sliced onions on top of the steaks.
In a mixing pitcher whisk together the celery soup, chicken soup, and water.
Pour the soup mixture over the onions, making sure to cover the onions well.
Finally sprinkle the dry onion soup mix over the top of the liquid on the onions.
Place the lid on the cooker.
Cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Serve on rice or mashed potatoes and garnish with fresh parsley.
