Old Fashioned Apple Crisp
There is always something special about a family recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation. Our Old Fashioned Apple Crisp is a family recipe that was handed down from my Grandmother to my Mother and then on to me. It is interesting about this time of the year I start getting calls for the apple crisp recipe. I decided to publish it on the blog and that way the whole family will always have it. This recipe is very simple with delicious spices and the great flavor of a blend of apple's making it very special.

We will start our Apple Crisp with some Granny Smith Apples, Gala Apples and Red Delicious. This combination of apples make a very flavorful crisp.
The apples are peeled and sliced, placed in a large mixing bowl.
After the apples were tossed with lemon juice,
we covered them with sugar and seasons.
Last we tossed them in flour.
into the buttered 9X13 baking dish.
In a medium size bowl, mix the topping ingredients until completely blended and the mix resembles pea size lumps.
Cover the floured and seasoned apple's with the topping.
Place in the oven and bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp
This recipe uses 3 different kind of apples to create a very special crisp flavor. Topped with delicious seasoned oats and butter.
Ingredients
- 4 medium Granny Smith Apples, peeled and sliced
- 4 medium Gala Apples, peeled and sliced
- 4 medium size Red Delicious Apples, peeled and sliced
- In All 12 cups sliced apples.
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground All-Spice
- 3/4 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons soft butter, for baking dish
- For The Topping
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- dash salt
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup unsalted butter, soften
Instructions
- Peel and core the apples, then slice them into about 1/4 inch thickness. Place the sliced apples into a large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle the lemon juice over the apples, then toss them to cover well. This will help the apples not to turn dark.
- In a small mixing bowl mix the sugar, cinnamon and all spice together.
- Sprinkle the sugar mix over the apples, then gently toss them together to cover the apples with the season's.
- Sprinkle the flour over the apples, then toss the apples with the flour to cover them.
- Generously butter the 9 X 13 baking dish then place the seasoned and floured apples into the buttered baking dish.
- For The Topping
- In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, cinnamon and oats until blended well.
- Cut the butter in small dice then add it to the flour mixture. Mix with a pastry blender and or your hands until the mixture looks like small peas.
- Sprinkle the topping over the apples.
- Place in a 375 degree oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until golden brown on top. The apples should test tender to soft with a toothpick test.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream.
We are ready to serve this Apple Crisp!
A nice dip of Blue Bell Ice Cream and it is ready to enjoy!
