Old Fashioned Apple Skillet Cake
This recipe for Apple Skillet Cake has been around our family for as long as I can remember. It is a very simple recipe with fresh apples and some warm spices. The fresh apples are folded into a special cake batter and then baked in an old iron skillet. It is topped with more of the delicious apple's and sauce and of course we will serve our serving with a dollop of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Morning, noon or night this recipe is a winner every time!

Old Fashioned Apple Skillet Cake Recipe
Starting the recipe with some thinly sliced apples.
I am melting some butter in my Grandmothers old 10 inch black iron skillet, one of my kitchen treasures.
After the butter is melted, add the apples and some brown sugar, very carefully stirring.
Add the seasons and continue to stir and cook,
until the apples are tender. Remove the skillet
from the heat and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl add
two eggs room temperature.
Begin to whip together the egg and flour blend.
Begin to fold the apples into the batter.
Add the remainder of the melted butter and brown sugar. Stir together until completely blended. Continue to fold the apples into the batter.
Pour the remainder of the apples and sauce into a small sauce pan and set aside on warm heat.
Pour the batter into the black iron skillet.
Bake in the oven until it test clean.
Recipe
We added the remainder of the apples and sauce to garnish the top of the cake, topped by a dollop or two of Blue Bell Ice Cream of course!
Serve the cake warm if possible with
the ice cream or whipped cream, just delicious!
