We will start this recipe with a mix of Kidney Beans, White Beans, and Pork and Beans.

Slow Cooker Texas Cowboy Beans

This is one of those recipes that can be the main dish at a family supper or a great recipe to take to a covered dish event. A delicious and flavorful mix that your family will love!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15 ounce) kidney beans, drained
  • 2 cans ( 15 ounce) white beans, drained
  • 2 cans ( 15 ounce) Pork & Beans, do not drain
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cooked crisp, retain drippings
  • 1 pound ground chuck, browned
  • 1 large yellow onion, small chop
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped fine
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • dash Tabasco Sauce (to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • Garnish 1/2 cup fresh green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pour the drained kidney beans, drained white beans plus Pork & Beans with liquid into the slow cooker. Mix the beans all together.
  2. Add the brown sugar, ketchup, Molasses, Tabasco and yellow mustard to the bean mixture. Mix well to incorporate with the beans.
  3. In a large skillet cook the bacon until crisp, retain the dripping's in the skillet, remove the bacon and drain on a paper towel, then set aside. When the bacon is cooled and crisp, crumble.
  4. Retain 2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings in the skillet, add the chopped onions and garlic. Cook the ground chuck, chopped onions and chopped garlic until the ground chuck is browned and the onions are clear.
  5. Add the ground chuck mixture to the bean mixture in the slow cooker and mix the ingredients very well.
  6. Place a lid on the slow cooker and cook the recipe on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours. Garnish with chopped green onions.
