Spring arrived with lots of rain this year and made us a little behind in our planting. After we finally got everything in the ground then here came the blast furnace. What a gardening year here in our part of Texas. We had to do some initiative things to get the plants to sustain in the heat and then produce. Once the harvest was ready it was so important to get it out of the ground before it was destroyed by the heat. Our highest heat this summer has been 111 degrees and that is hot!! These different weather patterns are one of the challenge's that gardening brings. When we are able to meet the challenge and bring in a harvest, then it has been a success. Although it is not the biggest harvest we have had, we like to say it is a success, we brought it to the table!
We Are Happy To Present
Summer Garden Tour-2023
Flowers
It is often times the lone Zinnia in the middle of the onion patch or in this case in the middle of the carrot patch that gets my attention.
A beautiful collection of Elephant Ears, Hydrangeas, Sweet Potato Plants and Asparagus Fern in a large container. A perfect spot to compliment the runway of Cody's Doggie Door Ramp going on to the screen porch. Banked on the other side with a large container of mixed color begonias. A White Blooming Wisteria Bush banks the top of the fence. Some really bright colored stones line the bottom of the fence. We have planted day lily's and other plants in the tops of the cinder block stones. The center feature a bird retreat with bird bath and several feeders. Ferns, Asparagus Fern bank the bird bath with some hanging begonia baskets. This baby container was just getting started for the season. It is filled with Hydrangea's and running English Ivy and beautiful combination.
A lovely hanging basket for the flagstone patio. Beautiful color hanging basket for the flagstone patio.
And here we have Mister Cody doing some yard work of his own! He is six months old here.
Such a cutie, a toy party poodle, with phantom markings.
A beautiful collection of mixed color and trailing violets with sweet potato vines. the container is sitting atop an old bird bath that no longer held water because of a crack. Asparagus fern makes a beautiful soft ground cover. This is planted near the Upstairs patio where the smoker makes all that smoked meat taste delicious!

Such lovely garden photos! We have had an unusually wet summer this year between that and the smoggy skies from the Canadian wildfires everyone is finding that plants are growing so differently this year; some that usually thrive seem to stunted and other that don't usually grow well are growing like crazy.
