Baked Glazed Apple Fritters
This recipe for Baked Glazed Apple Fritters is a very special treat for any brunch or breakfast. We enjoy a great brunch or breakfast on the weekend when we can enjoy some time to relax and just be together. I just love making a special treat for those times to give some extra love to my friends and family. This is a very simple recipe to make with just a few ingredients and doesn't take to much time. The flavors are amazing!

How To Make Baked Glazed Apple Fritters
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Place the ice cold butter cubes into the dry flour mixture.
With a pastry cutter work the butter with the flour mixture until there are very small pea like pieces.
Place the chopped apples into the flour mixture.
Gently fold the apples with the flour mixture.
Whisk until completely blended.
Pour the milk mixture into the dry flour mixture and fold together.
The batter will be very thick.
on a parchment covered cookie sheet.
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until the tops are slightly browned.
While the fritters are baking, make the glaze in a small mixing bowl.
While the fritters are still hot,
brush one coat of the glaze on the fritters. Place them back in the oven for about 2 minutes for the sugar to caramelize.
Remove from the oven and dust with a light coat of powered sugar, if you want to dress it up a bit.
Let cool on a cooling rack until ready to serve.

Ingredients
The Apple Fritter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 8 tablespoons butter, ice cold, cut in to very small cubes
- 1 1/2 cups Gala Apple, peeled and cubed small
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
The Glaze
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
The Apple Fritter
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Add the cubed butter and with a pastry cutter work the butter and flour together until the butter appears to be very small peas.
- Gently fold in the apples until they are completely covered with the flour mixture.
- In a mixing pitcher, whisk the milk, egg and vanilla extract. Slowly pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and mix until combined. This batter will be very thick.
- With a large scoop, scoop about 1/4 cup of dough in mounds on a parchment covered cookie sheet.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes, until the tops are slightly brown and the center test clean.
- Remove the fritters to a cooling rack and while they are hot, brush the glaze on top. Place the fritters back into the oven for 2 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
- Remove the fritters to a cooling rack and dust the tops with powdered sugar to give an added touch.
- Serve hot or at room temperature.
The Glaze
- Place the powdered sugar into a medium mixing bowl.
- In a small mixing pitcher, mix the milk and vanilla together.
- Slowly add 1 tablespoon of the milk mixture at a time while whisking into the sugar.

Does this recipe make about 10 portions as shown in the picture? It's always nice to have an idea. These look easy and great--no frying in oil!!
